Westbridge Foods, a Worcestershire business that exports premium frozen food, is sponsoring one of 80 penguin sculptures for the Great Waddle of Worcester.

This initiative is a lively art trail set to run from July 22 to September 15, 2024.

It is organised by St Richard's Hospice and aims to add vibrancy to public spaces in Worcester while also raising funds for charity. The company, based in Malvern, is embracing its frosty business theme through its penguin sponsorship.

The penguin, brought to life through artistic design, will be put up for auction at the end of the project. The trail comprises forty large and forty small Penguin sculptures and is supported by Presenting Partners including Crowngate, DRPG, Worcester City Council, and Worcestershire Ambassadors.

Other Partners include Worcester BID as Community and Education Partner and Worcester News and BBC Hereford & Worcester as Media Partners. While all large penguins have been claimed, some additional sponsorship opportunities remain.

Becki Hewerdine, HR director at Westbridge Foods, said: "Being a local business we’re very aware of the care St Richard’s Hospice provides across our community.  Joining its hospice huddle this summer is our way of saying thank you for the support given to local patients and their loved ones each and every year.

"The trail will be hugely popular with the Westbridge team and their families and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone’s selfies with our own beautiful sculpture as well as the other penguins out on parade."

Sara Matthews, business development manager for St Richard’s Hospice, said: "We’re so excited for everyone to meet the Westbridge Foods penguin.  It’s a wonderful design, painted by a local artist, and sure to slide into hearts this summer.

"All 80 penguins are being painted ready for the big reveal on 22 July.  This might be our third art trail but the artwork gets better and better each time.  We can’t wait for Worcester to waddle with us!"
