A TOURISM chief enjoyed a sweet treat when she visited one of Malvern’s recently opened independent shops.

Councillor Beverley Nielsen, who is portfolio holder for Economic Development and Tourism on Malvern Hills District Council, dropped in to new sweet shop Professor Willy's.

She said: “It was a great pleasure to meet with Frank and Gina, Proprietors of Professor Willy’s, Malvern’s latest sweet shop, adding to the town’s growing collection of original independent stores.
“Their beautifully displayed range of confectionary with boiled sweets in traditional glass jars, includes so many traditional delights – lemon sherberts, liquorice rocks and swirls, chocolates, candy lollipops and gobstoppers, a delicious variety of ice creams, together with a basement opening up into a cavern of accessories and artefacts.
“I was particularly keen to welcome Gina and Frank to Malvern as they already have a store in Moseley in Birmingham and it’s great to know that Malvern was their next destination of choice.
“It was tremendous to see so many families dropping in for the launch, keen to sample the authentic sweet and confectionary fare, adding to the magic of Malvern.
“Malvern’s visitors have such a great range of stores, cafes and restaurants to enjoy as our retail entrepreneurs create fabulous experiences enhancing our many attractions to make our town such a ‘sweet oasis for all.”
