Childhood friends take over pub
 |
| Carla and Laura enjoy a drink |
TWO childhood friends have taken over the Cavalry Arms, in Clarence Road, Barnards Green, with the intention of creating a real community pub.
Laura Eastwood, aged 27, and Carla Nash, aged 23, have worked in the pub trade all their lives and saw the Cavalry Arms as the perfect venue for their talents.
Laura said: "It was empty for five weeks beforehand and had a bit of a bad reputation, so we've given it a fresh start."
The pair have already given the interior a new lick of paint and will soon start on a make-over of the frontage.
Laura believes the pub's location gives them the perfect opportunity to include different members of the community.
She said: "We're right opposite a primary school and we're planning to have charity days with bouncy castles put up for the children."
