Restrictions quashed in schizophrenic attack
A PARANOID schizophrenic who attacked a woman at a Malvern railway station has had her freedom hopes boosted by Appeal Court judges.
April Jane Steward, 46, from Llandudno, broke the front tooth of the woman in March 2006 and was subsequently sentenced to a hospital order meaning she could not be released without the specific consent of the Government.
Judges at London's Criminal Appeal Court quashed this restriction on Wednesday, May 14, opening the way for her release once medics are persuaded she is safe to allow back into the community.
The court heard that there were no plans to release Steward before November this year.
