Rehman gets 162 for Eastnor to draw
WORCESTER v
EASTNOR.
ATIQ-ur-Rehman was in sparkling form with the bat at Norton Barracks but Eastnor had to settle for a winning draw as Worcester found little difficulty in batting out time in the Crusader Worcestershire County League Division One fixture.
The Pakistani overseas player scored an undefeated 162 as Eastnor posted a total of 295-7, but the home side were content to bat out time at 190-4 after losing quick wickets in mid-innings.
The Eastnor innings got away to a stuttering start, they found themselves at 29-3 in the 11th over. Atiq joined forces with first Arshad (17) and then Steve Emery to lay the foundations for a big total.
The score stood at 186 in the 41st over when Emery was the fifth wicket to tumble having made an attacking 37, including two sixes.
Shahid (30) and Atiq hammered the bowlers to all parts in the closing overs, the visitors adding 115 in the final 10 overs.
Atiq finished with 20 fours and five sixes in his huge total. Dan Keyte (2-19) and McKay (3-59) were the pick of the Worcester bowlers.
Shahid picked up a wicket in the seventh over when Worcester batted but the score had moved along to 100 without further loss when drinks were taken in mid-innings and a tight finish looked possible.
Three wickets for Faisal (3-39 off 11 overs) in quick succession after the resumption put a different complexion on the game.
He had McKay caught behind by James Onions one short of his half century.
His partner M Foster (43) fell to catch by Atiq. The other wicket was clean bowled.
Kelleher (50) and Walker (23) batted out time, with Eastnor not helping their own cause by dropping a number of sharp chances.
