MHDC striving for "excellent" rating
STAFF at Malvern Hills District Council are gearing up for a visit from the Audit Commission next week.
The commission first visited the council in 2004 and rated the organisation as fair'.
Since then the council has worked hard to improve performance, and this year the Audit Commission recognised that effort and agreed to carry out a second assessment.
Council leader Serena Croad said: "This council has come a long way since 2004 by making improvements across the board. We are aiming for excellent' this time round and we are all looking forward to welcoming the inspection team."
The council will hear the result in August. An excellent rating will open a number of doors for MHDC, including better access to some funding opportunities.

Councils do far too much striving these days. More [italic]doing[/italic] would be welcome.
If I saw a restaurant advertising itself thus; [italic]'Striving to cook nice food'[/italic] then I would never darken its doorstep.

Perhaps:
"Council believe they are already perfect and don't need to try any harder"
Any restaurant claiming to be 'the best restaurant in the world' without the michelin stars to back it up would arouse my suspicion; I would find a promise that they 'strive for perfection' more believable.
Remember the Audit commission aren't due until next week so there is still time for the council to strive for an excellent rating.
