Eco garden sprouts up

A SCHEME to create a garden at Somers Park Primary School is going ahead with the help of a £10,000 grant from Awards for All.

The school will use the money to transform a little-used area within the school grounds into a garden where pupils will be able to get hands-on experience of growing fruit and vegetables organically and learn about healthy eating, encouraging wildlife and recycling.

The design for the Sunrise Garden - the school's emblem is a sun - is now finished and work will start as soon as possible, carried out by volunteer parents.

The garden will feature raised beds, a greenhouse and a wildlife pond.
