Visitors flock to garden show
MORE than 90,000 visitors flocked to Malvern for the 2008 Spring Garden Show, held in glorious sunshine over four days at the Three Counties Showground.
Visitor numbers dropped by around 5,000 last year due to flooding and wet weather, and show spokesman Sharon Gilbert was delighted that business as usual' had been restored.
"The visitor numbers were back up to what we had in 2006, so we're really pleased," she said. "It was a very good show and a very enjoyable weekend for all involved."
Visitors were able to enjoy a host of colourful displays in the Malvern Floral Marquee, as well as browse a huge variety of stalls selling plants and every gardening implement imaginable.
There was also a stunning selection of twelve show gardens', and a brand new Interactive Theatre, where celebrities such as Chris Beardshaw and James Alexander-Sinclair kept the crowds entertained.
Mrs Gilbert said the show was a great success for all involved.
"I think the show has gone up again in terms of quality, and we had a lot of comments saying as much," she said. "Although gardening shows have probably reached their peak in terms of the number of visitors they attract the quality is something you can keep on improving.
"All the traders had a good weekend so overall we're very pleased. Now we have to start planning for next year."
