Text firm in line for top award
A COMPANY founded in a bedroom in Malvern Link has been nominated for a top business award.
Mobile phone marketing firm Txtlocal (correct) is on the short-list for the Technology Entrepreneur of the Year prize in EN magazine's awards for 2008.
Txtlocal specialises in mobile marketing for businesses of all sizes throughout the UK and Europe. The business has grown rapidly rate since Alastair Shortland founded it two years ago, and now has over 10,000 customers.
Its clients include businesses and institutions such as AXA, Islington Council, Nationwide, De Vere Hotels and The Houses of Parliament.
Mr Shortland says he is delighted to be nominated. "We wanted to raise awareness of how mobile marketing can be a cost effective marketing tool for all businesses, but never expected the success of our venture to come so quickly. Mobile marketing can help a very wide variety of businesses and we are delighted our service has proved a success "
The company is now based in Chester.
