NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS 1, EVESHAM UNITED JUNIORS 0.

NEWTOWN Sports Juniors beat Evesham United Juniors 1-0 in the Trophy World Cup at Langland Stadium on Sunday with a goal scored early in the first-half. Newtown Sports Juniors are managed by Mark Owen and assistant manager is Richard Davies.

WORCESTER RAIDERS U16s 2, NEWTOWN SPORTS BOYS U16s 2.

HAVING watched the Mercian U15s final earlier in the day coach Freeman then took his young charges to take on older opponents in this under-16s encounter.

Raiders scored two very quick goals, firstly a ball over the top saw the striker race clear to neatly lob the advancing Hatch, two minutes later, a neat interchange saw the same player with space and time to squeeze home a second.

A change of formation and personnel saw Newtown get a foothold in the game and responded with some raking attacks that had the Raiders' keeper at full stretch to turn aside several good efforts.

Newtown got back into the match five minutes before the end of the half.

As Preece raced onto Turner's excellent cross, he was body checked by a defender and Preece coolly slotted home the resultant penalty.

The second half got off to a disastrous start with Newtown keeper Hatch landing awkwardly and the game was held up for 30 minutes whilst paramedics ensured that the proper treatment was administered before being taken to hospital (latest news is ligament damage).

As time ticked down, Newtown were rewarded from an unlikely source, full-back Bridges was quickest to react to a bouncing ball and neatly volleyed across goal to secure an equaliser.

There was still time for Newtown to press for a winner but desperate defending and excellent goalkeeping prevented any further goals.

WELLAND JUNIORS COLTS U11s 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U11s 2.

NEWTOWN won this comfortably with goals from James Bannister in the first half and Ashley Hill in the second, keeping up Newtowns unbeaten record for the season, and yet another clean sheet.

Ross Mulka was outstanding and was duly named man-of-the-match.

L&B WANDERERS U11s 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U11s 0.

PLAYING their third game in six days, Newtown looked a bit jaded at times.

Sports had a number of half-chances in the first half to have won this game.

The second-half was a dour affair with both defences on top, with Newtown looking for the win and committing players forward, they came very close to losing this match but for a wonderful save from goalkeeper Joe Crews with time running out.

Newtown finish the season tomorrow with a home game against L&B Wanderers (ko 10.30am).

LEIGH & BRANSFORD VILLA 1, CRADLEY SPORTS U11 4.

CRADLEY closed off their season with a 4-1 victory against Leigh & Bransford Villa .

The game started very evenly with end to end play from both sides, trying to get the first score.

But it was Kyle Stimson who netted to give the visitors a 0-1 lead at half-time.

Cradley came out well in the second half and it was Stimson again scoring from good work by Patrick Morgan, providing the vital passes which have worked so well between these two players all season.

Stimson scored the visitor's third goal again provided by Morgan, chipping the Villa keeper.

Cradley's captain Mike Adair scored the fourth goal with a well-struck effort giving the keeper little chance.

Villa kept attacking and gained a score which they deserved late-on in the match which proved to be an easy win for Cradley..

Both sides looked like they really enjoyed themselves in a very sporting atmosphere which finished the season well.
