Joggers’ dozen heading for London
TWELVE Malvern Joggers are heading for the London Marathon next month.
Mark Cusack is running for the British Heart Foundation and the 37-year-old from Malvern is hoping a time of three hours 20 minutes.
Emma Gooderham is hoping that her experience ultra races will put her in good stead.
Completing two 50 kilometres (31 miles) races in 3:50 and 3:45, the 37-year-old from Wyre Piddle, who is running for the MacMillan Hospice in Evesham, is hoping to finish under three hours.
Malvern's Paul and Judith Newman, both running for CLIC Sargent and Spinal injuries Association, are aiming to finish in 3:30 and 4:30 respectively.
Peter Cowling, 56, is hoping to knock an hour off his time of 5:30 when he runs for Acorns.
Having run four previous London Marathon's 45-year-old is looking to go under four hours for Asthma UK.
Experienced marathon runner Stuart Brown is looking to break his personal best of 3:20, while North Malvern's Ruth Johnstone, running for BLISS, is also hoping to break 3:20.
Twenty-seven-year-old Amanda Butler is targeting a finish of 4:30 as she runs for the Spinal Injuries Association.
Claire Waghorn from Colwall is hoping to finish her first ever marathon as she runs for the Spinal Injuries Association.
"I'm running because my son Thom Donaldson had an accident 18 months ago," she said. "After a high level spinal cord injury he is now paralysed from the neck down. "Morgan Cars, his employers, have been unbelievably supportive from the moment it happened.
A committee was formed to raise money for equipment and treatment and he has finally returned to work. The SIA have also been a great help so, with Claire Middle, I'm raising money to thank them. "
Newland's David Sutton is hoping to finish in under four hours as he raises money for Prostate Cancer Charity and Malvern's Chris Jarrey is looking to finish in under six hours for Barnados.
